Don’t miss the January FIRST THURSDAY EVENT which will be at ZIA’S BISTRO in LITTLE ITALY at 1845 India Street - this is a fantastico Italian restaurant with a terrificio Happy Hour (4pm – 7pm) and for this SPECIAL HAPPY HOUR we will have one of the most talented guitarists and singers  from Italy – DANIELE SPADAVECCHIA who performs with “the passion of Gypsies, the elegance of Europe, and the hands and voice of an Italian!”  Try the fantsatic wine and beer selections and incredible Italian appetizers!  You will love this place!!!!  Thursday, Janauary 7 – 4pm – 7pm!!!!

The Zeiger Pre-New Years Eve Party was a huge hit – with well over 100 people attending – and some fantastic singers including MARTHA FUTTERMAN whose rendition of Edith Piaf’s IF YOU GO AWAY literally set the place on fire!!!  A mystery person accidentally nudged one of the knobs on the oven and caused the plastic platters on the top of the oven to smolder. The smokey atmosphere added to Martha’s song as JON KOEHLER and SETH LEYTON became potential nominees for CNN Heroes - as they put out the flames and JON carried the burning trays out onto the patio!  Martha did not miss a beat – and Jon is currently molding the burnt trays into an art object. . . .  FRANKIE FERREIRA from Reno played guitar and performed originals which were incredible!  Huge applause – and PAUL CARSOLA sang in his incredible Sinatra-style voice – fantastic!!!  KELLY JENSEN performed “Moon River” better than Andy Williams – and GUSTAVO ALCOSER sang two Zeiger songs with so much feeling and passion that the neighbors across the street applauded!  By the way, Gustavo performed two of my songs from the MEETCHU IN MACHU PICCHU CD at HUMPHREY’S BACKSTAGE on January 1 to the delight of the Standing Room Only crowd!!!  This guy is incredible!!!!

MORE NEWS – Mark you calendars for February 15 for the San Diego Premiere of NICOLE OPPER whose award-winning film UP AND RUNNING will be screened at the La Jolla AMCTheatres as part of the San Diego Jewish Film Festival.  Nicole form the PLHS Class of 2001 selected as one of the Top 25 Independent Filmmakers to Watch in 2010 by Filmmaker Magazine!

HALL OF FAME NEWS – AND BIG BASH AT PETE’S GRILL – PLUS Z-PARTY!

December 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

As many of you know, the historic and wonderful Gotta Sing Gotta Dance Hall of Fame which was on display at Point Loma High School this past year is being dismantled.  PETE’S GRILL will soon be displaying the decade of the 80’s – PETER CAPLANERIS, the owner, will be planning several great events to celebrate this display which represents about a thousand Point Loma High alumni photographed singing and dancing in GSGD musicals!  Peter starred in the show, LOOK INTO MY EYES (‘86), his brother,TED (owner of THE OLD TOWNHOUSE RESTAURANT) starred in SPREADIN’ RHYTHM AROUND (‘83) and their sister, NANCY starred in FRAMED ILLUSIONS (‘87).

If you are a restaurant or business owner and are interested in displaying any of the other boards, please contact me.  Here’s a great idea – if we get three or four more restaurants in this area to take the remaining boards, we could have annual or monthly reunions at these designated places – or an annual pub crawl of all the decades of Gotta Sing Gotta Dance!  And it will stimulate business!!!!! Contact me if you’re interested or if you have additional ideas.  I would like to get the entire display up in Point Loma in the next few months!

****Don’t miss the first Gotta Sing Gotta Dance Reunion Party this Friday night, December 18 at PETE’S GRILL featuring the casts of ‘83, ‘86, and ‘87 – from 5pm – midnight.  Drop by and order the best burgers and fish tacos – plus a terrific selection of wine and beers from around the world.  PETE’S is like CHEERS – and I am very grateful to the CAPLANERIS FAMILY for putting these photo boards on permanent display!  Hope to see you there.

****And The Z-Pre New Years Eve Party is coming soon at my place.  Contact me via e-mail for more information!

****The BARONS MARKETPLACE JAM SESSION was fantastic!  Many thanks to everyone at BARONS for creating a space for us -and for all the great performers including GUSTAVO ALCOSER, MARTHA FUTTERMAN, PAUL HARTLEY, THE ALLEN FAMILY CIRCUS, and THE MOTHERS OF INTENTION!

****CD’S of that INCREDIBLE MEETCHU IN MACHU PICCHU are the perfect holiday gift.  You can purchase them from me  - or online at cdbaby.com/cd/larryzeiger For more info and to hear sample songs from the album go to www.LarryZeiger.com
