THE 38th ANNUAL FIESTA DE LOS CUMPLEANOS – YOU’RE INVITED!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!  Here’s some exciting news – the 38th annual Fiesta de los Cumpleanos (Festival of Birthdays) – the one of a kind celebration will be taking place this year in Rosarito Beach at the famous hotel on the ocean on January 28-29.  If you’ve never been there – you are in for a treat.  If you’re interested in attending – send me an e-mail and I will get you all the info you need.  We have terrific room-rates for the night – an ocean front room with dinner for two for only $89.00 plus tax – and we have a full day of party events including the annual Tortilla Toss from the Rosarito Pier and the annual Karaoke competition!  Hope you can make it.

And – here are some Zeiger movie recommendations – THE ARTIST, HUGO, and MIDNIGHT IN PARIS are my favorite films of the year so far – but also enjoyed WAR HORSE and WE BOUGHT A ZOO (made by San Diego director, CAMERON CROWE with editing by Point Loma High grad, JOE HUTSHING.

One more item – if you’re not a member of the Facebook Page – GOTTA SI NG GOTTA DANCE MUSICAL THEATRE ALUMNI (and you don’t have to be an alumnus to join) – please do so today – there are over 1,000 photos from all the shows, and nearly 100 YouTube Videos from the 31 years of musical theatre.  PLUS – don’t miss the YouTube hit –  ZEIGER THE PSYCHO.  Made in 1977 – the one minute film shows the deteoriation of a teacher (me) as the building he teaches in is being torn down.  RICHARD LASTING made the film and stars as the terrifified student.

And just added – A.J. KNOX in 2001 produced a prize-winning animated film in my class called L’AMOUR – a french love story between a dog and a piece of cheese!  You will love it – I promise. Again, you can access these films and other at the GOTTA SING GOTTA DANCE FACEBOOK GROUP PAGE – or simply by going to YouTube – and searching by title – also by my name.

CONGRATULATIONS also to HALLE STANFORD (Emmy nominee for Best Children’s Programming for SID THE SCIENCE KID), NICOLE OPPER (Emmy nominee for Best Documenary, OFF AND RUNNING), and to RACHEL PANDZA and DUSTY DUPREL who had the WORLD PREMIERE of BEYOND THE CHAIR at the Laemlle Music Hall Theatre in Beverly Hills last month!  Watch for the San Diego premiere!

Have a wonderful New Year!!!

WHAT DO LARRY ZEIGER AND BILL O’REILLY HAVE IN COMMON?

Okay – so Bill O’Reilly is promoting his KILLING LINCOLN book every chance he gets on FOX – so here I go – on ZEIGERSPACE -

It’s the holidays!  Instead of reading O’Reilly’s book – why not purchase a copy of Zeiger’s CD, MEETCHU IN MACHU PICCHU.  You’ll be dancing to the crazy rhythms, singing songs AT THE BAR, and I promise you will never ever shop at SAKS 5th Avenue without singing the song, DREAM OF SAKS!  And when you visit military installations, you’ll be singing MISSILE MAN – and while sipping an expresso, CONOZCO MI CAFE!  Feeling romantic – how about A THOUSAND GUITARS?

It’s the perfect gift for yourself, friends, family members – and the double disc CD with over 20 songs is avaialble on CDBaby.com, iTunes, Amazon - and from Zeiger directly (you save money this way) – All you have to do is call him up – and meet him for a glass of wine – and he’ll deliver as many CD’s as you like.  MEEETCHU IN MACHU  PICCHU is just the hit album of the season!

  • Move over O’Reilly – its now the ZEIGER FACTOR – and I’m more entertaining. . .

HAPPY HOLIDAYS – SAY IT WITH MUSIC!

Hey Everyone – Hope you have a wonderful holiday season and New Year!  Music has been such a wonderful part of my life – and it’s great to know so many talented musicians in San Diego.  So on Wednesday night, feel free to join me at any or all of these events – I plan to be at all three – hard to do – but I will try.

At 7pm – you have a choice of going to Humphrey’s on Shelter Island to see the INCREDIBLE WEENER PIGS featuring ADAM and CHRIS HARRIS.  They rock the place!  I love these guys.  Also at 7pm – at the Coronado Library – don’t miss the legendary JIM TREPASSO and his Mandolin Orchestra performing Christmas and Chanukah music – the orchestra is wonderful!  Then after these two events – head on over to EL CAMINO for the BEST LATIN JAZZ in town featuring GILBERT CASTELLANOS, IRVING FLORES, ROB THORSEN – and many surprise guests!  The music begins at 9pm and lasts until midnight. What a fantastic night of music – and there is no better way to celebrate the holidays!

Also, in 2012, Mary McDonald and I will be celebrating our b-days back in Mexico – at the Rosarito Beach Hotel for a day and night of the most fun ever – so if you’re interested – let me know -and pick up an invite at our next party! The FIESTA DE LOS CUMPLEANOS is now in its 38th year which is amazing because I will be turning 44 this year. . .

My very best to you and your family for a wonderful Christmas, Chanukah, and New Year!  Happy Holidays Everyone!

ZEIGER MOVIE HITS THE INTERNET. . . SORT OF. . .

From the archives of Point Loma High School, the classic one minute feature, ZEIGER THE PSYCHO filmed in 1977 was recently discovered by the filmmaker himself, RICHARD LASTING – and thanks to the technical skills of TED CAPLANERIS, the film is now avaiable for all to see on YouTube and on the Gotta Sing Gotta Dance Facebook page.  Don’t miss it!  Note the intense allegory of the destructioin of the old school and the the destruction of the teacher who literally goes insane before your very eyes!  ZEIGER THE PSYCHO is indeed a classic not to be missed!

Here’s a great event for you to consider – don’t miss GILBERT AND LORRAINE CASTELLANOS performing incredilbe music at Dizzy’s on Saturday night, November 26 at 8pm. Dizzy’s is located on the back side of Harbor Towers in the Gaslamp.  You won’t believe what you are hearing and seeing!!!  Instead of a percussionist, talented dancer, Claudia, will tap out all the rhythms . . . in her tap shoes!  This concert is amazing – GILBERT on trumpet and IRVING FLORES on keyboard – and the incredible group, BESOS DE COCO (check their YouTube video out as well).  Hope to see you on Saturday night!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!
